COAT OF MANY COLORS MINISTRIES, INC. (CMCM) HISTORY

Coat of Many Colors Ministries, Inc. (CMCM) was founded in 2001 by Rev. Dr. Michael Hayles, who was the Pastor of Porter Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church located at 1308 Highway 1486 South in Dobbin, Texas.

Under the leadership of Pastor Hayles and the members of Porter Chapel, they started a food pantry at the Church in 1995 and after being in operations for over two years, Pastor Hayles decided to conduct a survey of the people who were being served at that time.  The survey concluded the people in the community of Dobbin and surrounding areas wanted to see more types of training being done in their local neighborhood.

Using the results of the survey findings, the church along with Sempra Energy Company from San Diego, CA gave Porter Chapel the seed funding to make Coat of Many Colors Ministries, Inc. a reality.  Coat of Many Colors Ministries, Inc. was incorporated in 2001 and it received its permanent 501(C)3 status in 2006 and the agency has trained or referred many people since its formation.

Coat of Many Colors Ministries, Inc. welcomes and encourages those located in the Montgomery County, Texas and surrounding areas to join us in the work we are doing in serving our community.  Our Vision is…
